Customs Duties and VAT Advisory
July 16th, 2020
Once our 8KX shipments commenced June 30th backers notified us about some issues related to Customs Duties fees when they received their package.
Customs duties are usually imposed to protect local industries against foreign competition and generate revenue.
For the customs duties normally the customs officials use the information from the Harmonized System (HS code), the commercial invoice and additional relevant documents. We do provide this for you if you purchased any products from our store.
Generally speaking, due to the HS code we provide the Customs Duties should not be applied to your parcel. If it does, please contact our support and we will solve the issue together with you.
VAT or Value Added Tax is a national charge placed on purchased products. VAT is a consumption tax placed on a product whenever value is added at each stage of the supply chain.
If you are located at any EU region or the United Kingdom VAT is applied to almost any purchased product. Your product payment in the Pimax store does not include VAT, so this charge is borne by consumers. VAT varies based on the policies of your local government.
In the event a courier charges you an extra fee where they didn’t tell you if it is either VAT or Customs Duties please contact the courier directly to determine what type of fee it is. If you can confirm the fee is indeed for Customs please submit a ticket to our support team and we will provide assistance for you. If you verify the extra charge is a VAT fee you are responsible for the charge.
