My First Impressions of the StarVR One - The Widest Human FOV VR Headset available!

I received my StarVR One today and I can’t wait to try it out. I’ve started a YouTube channel where I will post my review of the headset and I’ll also be comparing it to other headsets. My channel will also be for reviewing other VR accessories/peripherals I own and for when I receive the 8K-X.

You can subscribe to my channel here:

Here’s some photos and some initial impressions

Last photo is side by side comparison with the Index.

Firstly, the packaging is very premium and the headset feels like it has really good build quality. It weighs similar to the Index but the weight distribution is less front heavy on the StarVR. What surprised me is how compact the lenses are. They managed to fit it all into a space slightly wider than the Valve Index. The headset also comes with the longest headset cable I’ve ever seen.

In terms of whether you can wear glasses in this headset. The space between the foam and the lenses are so close, that I would only advise wearing contact lenses.

I’ve been testing various games for hours and hours and I can say that Half Life Alyx and Pavlov VR seem to be the most enjoyable. HL Alyx has some culling that appears occasionally but only from my right peripheral vision. Pavlov has no culling at all and some other games are also cull free.

I will post a video tomorrow. Sorry it’s taking so long. I’m new to recording videos and I also wanted to do thorough testing before posting my thoughts.

Ask your wife to try it and ask her if it’s worth 3.2K.

I don’t have a wife lol. Is it worth 3.2K? Probably not. If it had better resolution then it would be a well rounded headset.

Ask your friend’s wife if it’s worth 3.2K.

Imagine having to ask your wife before buying stuff or caring about what they think.

Awesome that you got one, really looking forward to your impressions

Sometimes I think the guys who actually DO have to ask permission to buy something are better off. That is MUCH easier than actually trying to figure out if you can afford something expensive. One is being a kid, the other is being responsible.

Every time something goes wrong, I’ve been responsible. :grinning:

Can you please test out Assetto Corsa and tell me if it works well in that game(ie any culling, any distortion, etc)?
