Pimax 6M Fibre Optical Cable Issue?

I recieved the Pimax Fibre Optical cable yesterday and had an issue straight away when I plugged it in. I managed to overcome this issue by plugging the USB Cable into a PCIe USB 3.0 card I installed before. I bought this cable in the hopes of eliminating EMI when the hmd is touched. It did NOT stop it.

I’m still annoyed that the 8K X had this issue when the USB is plugged into the Motherboard. I’ve also read that One of the DPs on the GPU has a higher bandwidth than the rest, is this true?

And I haven’t heard a Peep from any official Pimax Reps or Support. I spent over $2k Aussie and more on the bloody thing. Do I have to make a ticket? Cause I bought it on Amazon.

That looks like it might just be a bad cable

Yes it seems some DP have better signal.

I noticed your running multiple monitors. I believe someone else running multiple 4k monitors found they needed to reduce numbet of displays. I would maybe try just 1 display+pimax.

@Heliosurge They’re just 1080p

So in theory you should be good. Thought might be an idea to try with only one monitor just to eliminated it as a possibility(even though unlikely).

Does this occur in all titles or just some?

@Heliosurge This issue prevents me getting into a game, so I would say all.

I’m thinking the ASUS Maximus Hero Vii Motherboard doesn’t have enough power allocated for the USBs or it’s a Win 10 setting.

Cool. I think I saw someone use a powered hub and had success vs using mb usb or pci add on card.

I have seen on Amazon a usb 3 with additional usb2 for power going to a single female connector.

I have this card installed and the Optical Cable seems to work OK. https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/aw/d/B00FPIMICA?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Hi and Thanks for replying.

Just to clarify, I purchased the Optic Cable from a 3rd party seller Not Amazon. The 8K X was purchased from Amazon.com.

Hello,

Somehow, you can file the ticket and let the technician to diagnose the cable. If they found out it was the broken cable, you might need to get reimbursement from your seller.

Sincerely.

I’ve reverted back to the stock cable and it works fine.

Maybe the Optic Cable doesn’t have enough power from the USB 3.0 Outputs on the back of the MB.

Hello,

This might be one of the reason, do you have other output on the PC?

Still, the stock cable works fine when plugged into the MB which I’ve gone back to.

Hello,

Then the output on the back of MB might not having the enough power to support the Optic Cable.
Please let us know, if the optic cable still fail even with this expansion card.

Sincerely.

Pimax should consider including one of these.

Yeah that should work. My link is Canada Amazon with yours US.

Hello,

Which means the output on the MB has insufficient power supply for the cable to run the headset.

Sincerely.
