Thick and Thin Face foam

G’Day Guys
When will Pimax supply the 2 Face foams as promised,this must be causing all
sorts of problems not only for the recipients but also the support and logistics staff
besides antagonizing customers who cannot get a good fit with there HMD.
Surely this is not a difficult problem to solve.

Seems silly to me also, but I don’t think they ever intend to ship with the 2 face foams. I think they have decided to just ship with one and then deal with shipping out the other one to those who actively request it. This has to be related to an attempt at cost savings, but I suspect it will cost them much more in the long run to do it this way.

Whats the problem answering my question please,I have coming an HMD with
ET and by various customers on this forum they only received a single thin face
foam,I’m guessing now but I would think that if that’s the case my eye’s would be too close to the ET.
So please respond and advise when the other thicker face foam will be sent.

I Would also like to know.

I would not be able to use the headset, if i only get the thin one with my 8KX.
(So both should be appreciated)

And, I’m still waiting on my Headset tracking and for it to be sent.
(Backer upgrader: SO15404).

Nope. I used the PU leather one from VRMust and that worked fine for me with the ET calibration (didn’t try any of the foam pieces with ET actually).

Great to hear that you received two face pads,pity pimax have not the gumption
to inform customers they are now sending both,if that’s the case.
They would not be getting annoyed customers upset if they informed people.

I agree. I received my 8KX with hand tracking module and silicone sleeve Monday, and eye tracking module and thick foam Wednesday so maybe they’re only sending it to those who’ve ordered the eye tracking module (due to reports about people not being able to calibrate using the thin foam?).

Anyway, it would have been an easy win for them to just inform everybody on about the how and when:slight_smile:

Hello,

The thin foam is the default foam for the 8KX right now, if you request to get the thick foam, you might need to log a ticket at Pimax Support.

It’s quite hard (impossible for some, without that eye/lens distancing) to find the sweet spot with your particular hmds and there’s a lot of different head/face shapes among your customers around the world and that’s something you’re well aware of.

I want the thin one so that’s good for me but why on earth don’t you send out both of them like you said you would do?

I can’t enter support with my password. What am I supposed to do, @PimaxQuorra?
My Pimax 8KX are totally unusable with the default foam, if the thick foam doesn’t work for me, I would have to return the 8KX or sell it for sure, as it damages my eyesight.

At the end I have created a new account in support, it seems that it has not given me problems with the others, as I feared.

Does the password reset option on the support site work? I hope so, but I haven’t tested it myself.

I have a ticket for the thick foam and I got an update yesterday after the holidays. I will receive the thick foam and hinges before the end of the month. I asked if I’ll get a tracking number, but not sure if they use a service that will provide that on these smaller items.

I don’t want to manipulate the passwords, it’s supposed to be the same one I have for the rest. I don’t want to enter as Facebook or other nonsense, I want them to fix the password of the accounts at once.
At the end I have created a new account in support, it seems that it has not given me problems with the others, as I feared.

It would be nice if Pimax used one unified login (Single Sign On as it is called technically) across all their systems, but as far as I know, they don’t. Therefore the account and password for Support is different to the others.

Hopefully you can reset the password to the same one as on the main sites, otherwise Pimax will need to fix it.

Agreed I don’t want to login with social media accounts to Pimax, or any other company, for that matter.

SSO is offered by third parties specialising in security, so it’s not something Pimax have to build. They just have to do the integration work:

What you say is true of course.

So, yes @Cdaked, it’s a separate database in which you must use a separate account that you have separately created.

Why do we need to go through this rigmaral, when it was stated by Pimax employee’s
that both thick and thin face foam’s would be supplied ???
The whole idea of supplying the two foams was to help people with different facial feature’s.
Besides reneging on the the original statement pimax made you now have the audacity
to require customers to contact support who MIGHT send out a thick foam!!!
This is not only cheap but show’s total disregard to your clients,personally I have
spent over $3000 with your company and this will be the last I’m sorry to say
I would like to thank the staff and your self for the help I have received in the past
but I have lost faith with Pimax being not only a cheapskate but also dishonest.

Ah so hand tracking modules are being sent out now?
Were you a Kickstarter backer?

I’m still waiting for mine ordered on Kickstarter & haven’t heard anything yet.
